When Rabbi Gauriel Benayon visited New York City for a conference, he decided to do a little shopping. He bought himself a new pair of shoes, but that didn’t stop him from helping a fellow human in need.
While taking the subway, Benayon couldn’t help but notice that a man a couple of feet away from him wasn’t wearing any shoes, something that was especially concerning considering the frigid weather. Without hesitation, he took his snazzy pair of sneakers off, approached the barefoot stranger, and asked if he’d like to have his shoes. Immediately, the man’s face lit up.
The stranger quickly put the shoes on, happy to discover they fit him well. He then stood up, trying his new kicks out, and proclaimed, “I have a new style.”
We don’t know what’s going on in this man’s life, but we do know this rabbi’s act of kindness is a testament to the power of helping others, no matter how big or small. Watch the touching moment in the video below.
