“I’ve learned my lesson today, NEVER drive in a hail storm! We parked on the side of the road when the storm got too heavy and the hail blew out our windows.
I didn’t realize how bad the storm was until it started hailing. First the hail was small, and I thought it would be ok. Things quickly got worse and I pulled over because I couldn’t see in front of me. The glass started to shatter as the hail kept on getting heavier and heavier. I could feel the hail like pins and needles on my back.
I covered my infant with my body to stop her from getting badly injured. I pulled her out of the car seat and pushed her into the front with my grandmother, so she could hold her. I grabbed her from my grandmother and then put her on the floor underneath my feet where the pedals are because I couldn’t hold her with all of the hail coming in. The only safe place was on the floor.
Thankfully the bad hail only lasted a few minutes. I just didn’t realize before how dangerous this hail was and exactly what it could do. Clara only had a few cuts and bruises.
Please, please be careful in this storm season! My grandmother got it worse than me, but luckily, she is doing better now as well.
I’m just so relieved that my daughter and grandmother are alright.”
