I’m Not The Girl Who Has Everything Figured Out, But I’m The Girl Who Will Always Fix Her Soul Sister’s Crown When She Needs It

“I’m the girl who answers her phone every time.

Why?

Because friendship is valuable to me.

I’m the girl who drops everything for another.

Why?

Because I am the type of friend that I want someone to be to me.

So today was an unusual day for me.

Half naked.

That was today.

I was half-naked in the dressing room in a lingerie store.

Finding a bra that was desperately needed.

All the bras that I currently owned were mom bras.

You know the ones that are tan or white.

You know the ones that have thick straps.

You know the ones that lack a sense of sexy.

You know the ones that every girl says she will never have but magically end up with multiple pairs once motherhood becomes part of her life.

So that was me, the girl with way too many mom bras.

So there I was half-naked, with a load of negativity running through my brain.

I was thinking about how great my life was when I was a size 8.

I was thinking about how great my life was when I had no wrinkles.

I was thinking about how great my life was when I had no cellulite.

I was thinking about how great my boobs used to look before I gave birth.

As I stood there half-naked in front of the mirror, my phone started to chime.

And my soul sister needed me.

So I dropped everything for her.

Because at that moment bras didn’t matter.

In the middle of trying on bras, I sat half-naked on the dressing room floor and let my friend tell me all the things.

I let her vent till she couldn’t say another word.

I am her person and she is mine.

What should have been a quick phone call turned into a 30-minute chat.

Just before our conversation ended on the phone, she asked me what I was doing at the exact moment.

I replied, ‘I am half-naked in a lingerie dressing room talking to you who has bigger problems than my mom bra issues.’

I finished up trying on bras after I got off the phone with my soul sister to realize something.

I’m not the girl that has everything in life figured out.

But I am the girl that always will fix her soul sister’s crown when she needs it.

True friendship is being there for one another during all the moments, not just the picture-perfect ones.

I answered my phone the second she called because she would do the same for me.

My life wasn’t great because I was a size 8 many years ago.

My life wasn’t great because I had zero wrinkles many moons ago.

My life wasn’t great because I had no cellulite before I had given birth to my kids.

My life was great because I had my person and she had me through every step and stage in life.

And therefore, I have always had a great life.

And will continue to have one because those who love me are here for not just the perfect parts but the most real of moments when I am half-naked in a lingerie dressing room.

Always be the girl who answers her phone when you can.
