“Here’s the thing…
If you and your husband were the exact same, you wouldn’t need each other.
I’m a trash can stuffer and he’s strong enough to pull the bag out of the trashcan when I’ve gone too far.
He’s laidback and calm, and I’m loud and crazy enough for the both of us when somebody needs yelled at.
Okay, maybe that’s not a good example.
But, the truth is there are reasons opposites attract.
We need each other. We learn from each other. We grow more to the center and learn to balance each other out.
And this makes the team stronger.
When do we forget that we’re a team?
Is it when the socks don’t make it into the basket or the bathroom towel lays wet on the floor?
When do we stop having each other’s back?
Go ahead and pick up that sock, girl. Throw that towel over the rack. It’s okay.
Maybe that’s the play where he’s always going to need an assist.
I’m sure if you think about it, you can see where there are times you need one, too.
The thing is…
What we focus on becomes our focus. When we spotlight the negative in someone, we can’t help but find more of it.
But the good news is, when we spotlight the good, we find more of that, too.
Watch your focus. Give an assist. Watch each other’s back. Go team.”
