Ever since Disney’s “Encanto” was released, critics and viewers alike haven’t been able to stop raving about it. There are so many things to love about the exceptional movie, but one of the most important aspects has to be the representation among the diverse characters.
Parents across the world have been sharing their children’s reactions to seeing characters who look remarkably like them, something they don’t get to see very often. One of the kids, Manu Araújo Marques, even went viral for looking just like Mirabel, the protagonist of the film — the two of them even wear similar glasses!
When Manu first saw Mirabel, she exclaimed in Portuguese, “It’s me, Mommy! It’s me!” Her excitement only grew when the movie jumped to when the protagonist is a teen. “I grew up, Mommy!” Manu added.
